This beautiful ebook features twenty-eight considered portraits of prominent Scots and adopted Scots alongside accompanying commentaries created in response to the poems of Robert Burns. Each sitter wrote a response explaining why a particular poem is important to them and their love for Burns. The result is a unique, inspiring, enlightening and insightful body of work that celebrates the poems of Robert Burns and reflects upon his continued relevance in the modern world.

In the forward, Julie Lawson Chief Curator Scottish National Portrait Gallery talks about the numerous portraits of Burns and the purpose of portraiture. A wonderful introduction, written by Professor David W Purdie Editor-in-Chief of The Burns Encyclopedia, provides the reader with an insightful glimpse into the life and mind of one of the World’s greatest and most popular poets.

Audio recitals and music:

The ebook includes four wonderful audio tracks made exclusively for the project by the actors Brian Cox, Alan Cumming and Ashley Jensen plus the poet Jackie Kay. Each sitter very kindly recorded themselves reading their chosen poem, the atmospheric results are stunning and help give insight into the four poems. In addition, the musician Ian F. Benzie granted us to include his beautiful rendition of For a' that and a’ that.

These five audio tracks add to making the ebook a truly unique and inspirational piece ebook celebrating the work of this incredible poet.
